Music That Describes Me

Hello everyone. My name is Jacob Crocker. A little bit of background information on me is that I am from a small town called Union, Sc. I play soccer for Converse, and I am also a truck driver for the National Guard. You can assume that being a truck driver comes with many long and boring drives that have to be entertained in some way or another. My playlists are full of different genres that are played depending on my mood. If you ever get to know me on a more personal level, you will understand that I am a HUGE country music fan. Specifically, oldies like George Straight and, ofcourse, the OG Chris Stapleton. Whenever I listen to these artists, it helps me escape from reality and jump into my own little world. You can imagine me throwing my own personal concert whenever they are on my radio.

1) As I said earlier, I am intrigued by many different country artists. Country music, to me, is a stress reliever due to their story filled lines that may relate to my current life. One of songs that is like my go to right now is "Buy Dirt" by Jordan Davis. This song resonates with me because it sings about my main goal in life right now.... to buy a piece of land and grow old.

2)An example of a meaningful song to me right now is "Daddy Doesnt Pray Anymore" by Chris Stapleton. This song represents a fatherly figure I had growing up that was very religous and lived out his life for God each and every day. He prayed with me everytime i saw him, but one day he didnt do it. Later that month he committed suicide and still, to this day, I dont understand why he felt the need to take his own life. So, needless to say, he was "finished talking to the Lord" and, instead, was ready to see him at the pearly gates.

3)A specific genre I do not connect with personally is any heavy metal music. Mainly because I resonate with words rather than instrumentals. I spoke with a friend the other day about music and i noticed that I tend to not even listen to beats, rhythms, timbre, texture or dynamics like many other people do. But instead, I listen to the words and create meaning through them to my life directly.  Also, I have sensitive ears, so I get really bad headaches whenever I listen to really loud metal music.

  1. I love Chris Stapleton so much! I could listen to all of his music on repeat forever and I would be happy. His lyrics are genius and his music is so soothing. I agree, heavy metal is very hard to connect to; I find it very stressful to listen to sometimes!

  2. In my blog, I wrote about country music as a genre I don't relate to. However, I love Chris Stapleton. I went to one of his concerts a couple years ago. :) Several people's blogs I've read say they don't like heavy metal. Honestly I love a good rock concert!

  4. We definitely have more of the same music taste than I would have thought! I love both of the country songs that you included in your blog and I definitely agree that I do not relate well to heavy metal music. I really enjoyed getting to read your blog, thank you for sharing!
